The short version
- No accounts, purchases or subscriptions are required.
- Your learning progress stays on your device (in your browser’s storage). We cannot see it.
- No advertising anywhere on the site, and no ad tracking.
- Free PSEB student pages make no requests to Google Analytics. No Google Analytics cookies, pings, profiles or analytics tracking.
- Adult study apps (18+): Google Analytics is not contacted unless you tap “Allow”; if you decline, no analytics request is sent.
- We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.
- You can withdraw or reset your analytics choice below; this policy page itself is not measured.

1. Who we are
BOLO.INSTINCT is an independent educational project created by Dr. Deepak Daroach, MD (“we”, “us”). It is a personal project. It is not a registered charity or non-profit, and it is not affiliated with any hospital, university, employer, examination board (PSEB, ABIM, AAMC) or government body. We are the party responsible for this website and this policy. See Contact.
2. Data stored only on your device
The site works offline. To do this it saves the following in your browser’s local storage, IndexedDB and service-worker cache. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us:

Profile names are chosen by you. Please use a first name or nickname, not personal details. You can delete all of this at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. The beta code is not saved in browser storage.
BOLO.Games beta access and online rooms
BOLO.Bachgaye sends the code you manually enter to our Netlify function over HTTPS to verify access. The game does not save the code, set a login cookie or restore access automatically. Entry requires internet, and the protected game is not saved to the offline cache. No Google Analytics is loaded on the game.
BOLO.IM and BOLO.Med beta access
Each app sends the code you enter to a rate-limited Netlify function over HTTPS for verification. The code is not saved in your browser or written to your study progress. Code verification requires an internet connection; study progress remains on your device.
Solo and pass-and-play do not contact a multiplayer service. Choosing to host or join an online room contacts PeerJS's public signaling service and WebRTC connection services; these receive network information necessary to connect devices, including IP addresses. Your chosen nickname and game state are shared with the room host and participants. Use a nickname, avoid personal details in custom phrases, and share room codes only with people you trust. The host controls the room and receives the full game state, including card hands; this beta is for casual play, not competitive or secret-hand guarantees.
Save points and backup files. Save points are copies of your own study data, kept in this browser like the rest of the data above. Backup files are downloaded only when you choose to. They contain your study progress and the slot’s profile name, but never a beta access code. Because nothing is sent to us, we cannot restore lost data. “Erase” in the Memory Card permanently deletes a slot’s progress and its save points on this device. Anyone who can use this browser profile can see its slots, so keep backup files private. See also Terms: saved progress.
3. Visit measurement (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd.) to understand how many people use each part of the site, so we can improve it. We have configured it as follows:
- Advertising features are off. Ad storage, ad user data and ad personalization are always denied. Google signals and ad-personalization signals are disabled.
- Free PSEB student pages, the home page, and this policy page: the Google Analytics script is not loaded and no analytics requests are sent. No analytics cookies, cookieless pings, profiling, or visit measurement.
- BOLO.IM and BOLO.Med (adult-only apps): the choice banner appears before Analytics is loaded. If you tap “Allow analytics cookies”, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies (
_ga,_ga_*) and process the page address, referrer, browser/device details, approximate location and network information, including your IP address for the request. If you decline, no Google Analytics script or request is made. - When enabled, Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. The network request still necessarily includes an IP address so Google can receive it; do not treat “not stored by GA4” as “not disclosed to Google”.
- We keep analytics data for the shortest retention period Google offers (2 months for detailed data). We see only aggregated reports.
- Analytics is switched off if you turn it off above or your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. It is not used on local copies of the site.

4. Advertising
The site shows no advertising and uses no advertising cookies, remarketing or ad-network tracking. If this ever changes, we will update this policy first and ask for any consent the law requires. Ads would never be personalized on pages for students under 18.
5. Beta code verification (BOLO.IM, BOLO.Med)
- BOLO.IM and BOLO.Med are free beta tools. We do not process payments or collect purchase, receipt, billing or card details for these apps.
- When you enter the shared beta code, your browser sends it to our Netlify function over HTTPS. The function checks it against the beta access code and returns whether access is allowed; the code is not saved as an account credential or in your browser storage.
- Netlify processes the request to operate the verification service and may process technical request data, including your IP address, as described under Website hosting. Do not send sensitive or medical information through the code form.
6. Embedded content and external links
- YouTube videos in some lessons use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (
youtube-nocookie.com) and load only when you press play. Once a video plays, YouTube/Google’s own privacy policy applies. - Links to the AAMC, research articles and other external sites open their own websites, each with its own privacy policy.
- Fonts, icons, math rendering and all study content are served from this website itself, not from third-party servers.
Website hosting
This website (bolo-instinct.com) is hosted by Netlify, Inc.; its domain name system (DNS) is provided by Cloudflare, Inc. Like any web server, Netlify automatically receives technical request data when your browser loads a page — your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user-agent — in order to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. We do not use these logs to identify or profile visitors, and they are kept only for the hosting provider’s short operational retention period. Cloudflare resolves the domain name only and does not receive page content. See the Netlify Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
7. Children and students
The free PSEB pages are designed for school students, many of whom are under 18. We do not ask students to create accounts, provide names or emails, and we do not run ads, analytics, profiling or behavioral tracking on these pages. Study progress stays in the browser. The hosting provider necessarily processes basic request data, such as an IP address and requested page, to deliver and secure the site; see Website hosting. We encourage students under 18 to use the site with a parent’s, guardian’s or teacher’s awareness.
BOLO.IM and BOLO.Med are free study betas for adults aged 18 or older. Each app requires an affirmative age acknowledgement before the learner can proceed. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will review the request.

8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and US state privacy laws (including California’s CCPA/CPRA). These can include the right to:
- know what personal data we hold;
- access, correct or delete it;
- withdraw consent at any time;
- object to or restrict processing;
- appoint a nominee (India);
- raise a grievance with us;
- complain to your data-protection authority, such as the Data Protection Board of India or your EU/UK supervisory authority.
Because we do not run accounts or process sales, the personal data we hold is limited to messages you send us and technical records handled by our hosting providers. Most learning data is on your own device and under your control. We honor Global Privacy Control signals. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Legal bases (EU/UK):
- Your consent (analytics cookies on the adult study apps).
- Our legitimate interests in operating and securing the website (including necessary hosting logs) and, only if you consent, improving the adult study apps through analytics.
- Responding to requests you send us and meeting applicable legal obligations.
9. International transfers and retention
Google, Netlify and Cloudflare may process data in the United States and other countries, using safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. We keep support messages only as long as needed to respond and keep required records, generally up to 2 years. Analytics retention is described in §3.
10. Security
The site is served only over HTTPS (with HSTS) and sends security headers that block framing by other sites, restrict which outside servers pages may contact, and limit browser features such as camera, microphone and location, none of which the site uses. Anyone with access to your device or browser profile could see your local study progress. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The effective date at the top will change. For material changes we will add a notice on the home page.
12. Contact and grievances
For privacy questions, data requests or grievances, message BOLO.INSTINCT through Instagram. Please write “Privacy request” in the message. We aim to respond within 30 days.
